Trip to Alabama

We had a fantastic trip to Alabama.  We left at Mollee's bedtime and drove through the night.  It worked out perfectly.  She slept through the entire drive...She fell asleep in Pflugerville and woke up 10 hours later in Mobile.  We went up there to visit H's brother (Danny), his wife (Jill), and their two kids (Cameron, who is going into 6th grade & Alexis, who is going into 3rd grade.)  We only get to see them once or twice a year...so we always enjoy the little time we get to spend with them.

We all headed to Gulf Shores to spend a couple of days at Jill's mom's house (which is amazing by the way!), and is minutes from the beautiful beach.

(I think that the beaches there are much prettier than the Texas beaches.)  Jill's mom has a pool so we spent a lot of time in that.

Her family (who was also visiting) is Cuban and they like to cook LOTS of Cuban food.  We were VERY spoiled (and full!) the entire time we were there.  The food was just AMAZING.  We all (including Mollee) got to try LOTS of new Cuban dishes that we had never eaten before.  Mollee was given LOTS of great attention while we were there...her cousins and all of Jill's family were really wonderful with her.  They played with her, as well as helped out with her.  Mollee LOVED the sand at the beach.  However, she wasn't too sure about the ocean waves.  They were loud and hit hard.  She stayed far away from them.  It was very hot.  She did as well as we expected at the beach...It was just a short beach trip because she is still taking 2 naps a day.  But it was still fun!

This trip was the very first time she had EVER slept somewhere else besides her crib at our house...and she did awesome!  She is so adaptable...as I'm sure most kids are.  We went to dinner one night at Lulu's...which is owned by Jimmy Buffett's sister.  It was a really cool place with sand for kids to play in, a ropes course for older kids, live music, and a great atmosphere.

The kids had a fun time popping fireworks for the 4th...not including Mollee...She celebrated the 4th during the day since she was already in bed when it was time for fireworks!

All in all, we had a wonderful trip and can't wait to go back again.

  1. You're lucky you got to see fire works! I can't wait for the 1 nap a day either. These 2-3 naps a day make it hard to do anything right now.
