Question: What's worse than a 5 1/2 month old with a cold?
Answer: A mommy of a 5 1/2 month old with a cold who also has a cold and has discontinued breastfeeding!!
Why??......There's pretty much nothing more a breastfed baby wants to do when they are sick than breastfeed for comfort! And when you have recently ended breastfeeding, you go through this AWFUL, HORRIBLE, HORRIFIC pain while your milk is drying up. So how are you supposed to rock your sick baby when you are screaming in pain when their head lays on your chest??!!! All while fighting a cold yourself!
So............THANK GOODNESS this whole sick thing is FINALLY leaving our house! (...Knock on wood!!) Mollee's snot seems less and less (TMI??) She also seems to be coughing less and less. Nothing is more awful than hearing your baby cough in their sleep throughout the night. Since you can't really give any medicine to a 5 1/2 month old, we have been following all of the pediatrician's orders over the last week...elevating the crib mattress, sleeping with the cool-mist humidifier, saline spray in the nose, bulb suction in the nose, etc...She has started to find new sleep positions as she squirms around in her sleep. Sometimes she even ends up on her side. I'm a big side sleeper...so maybe she gets that from me! ;)
I'm also happy to report that my cold is FINALLY going away, too! My excruciating pain from stopping breastfeeding is FINALLY subsiding as well. THANK GOODNESS!!
Sickness needs to leave the Drum house alone for a while!
